How To Make Sweet Tea

  1. Chat online with a girl in California.
  2. Find out that you like her, but she's attached. You keep an eye on other girls, but keep in good touch with Cali girl.
  3. Tell Cali girl you loved her first. (wins!)
  4. Spend a lot of time chatting online in college.
  5. Meet each other's family.
  6. Drag her to KS.
  7. Help her move out of your own bedroom into her own apartment
  8. Finish college, putting up with her complaining she has to drive more because your an RA and can't leave the building most weekends
  9. Graduate
  10. Get married renfest style at Shawnee Mission Park
  11. Move into a better apartment closer to work
  12. Ask how to make huge batches of iced tea.
  13. Listen to story about how her mom makes the best sweet tea
  14. Put it off. Sounds like a lot of work.
  15. Move to a different apartment.
  16. Forgot you asked once and ask the tea question again
  17. Nod and smile through the story, after all, you asked.
  18. Still sounds like a lot of work
  19. Have a son, move into a house
  20. Curse when you go out to eat at tea costing 1.19 to buy, knowing it takes less than a time to make.
  21. Have identical twin girls, become a stay at home dad because it's cheaper than paying for daycare (and more fun!)
  22. Ask...yet again...the iced tea question.
  23. Listen again to the story, but this time, as she's talking about it, get it done.
  1. Get large pot and serving vessel
  2. Pour water into the serving vessel
  3. Pour water into pot
  4. Crank the heat, getting little bubbles to appear at the bottom of the pot, but not boiling
  5. Tie 6 tea bags together, discarding the paper and paperclip tops
  6. Toss the teabags into the empty pot, then pour the hot water into the empty pot.
  7. Add Splenda/Sugar to your hearts content (we use 2/3 to 3/4 cup per gallon)
  8. Cover and steep 30 minutes.
  9. Uncover and toss teabags out
  10. Let cool
  11. Pour into serving vessel
  12. Put vessel into fridge, or serve immediately with a ton o' ice
Pink and I chug down a gallon of the stuff roughly every 2 to 3 days. Delicious, cheap, though we slowly decrease the Splenda amount till we get it right.
